St. Francis Home Receives Donation
St. Francis Home is pleased to announce that we recently received a very generous donation from the Estate of Virginia “Ginny” Zahn. Ginny and her husband Wayne were residents of St. Francis Villas for several years, and have been generous benefactors to the St. Francis campus dating back to the 1990’s.
St. Francis has established the St. Francis Endowment Fund with the Zahn donation and will be using the income earned from these invested funds to support St. Francis Home.
“We are very grateful for the generosity of Virginia & Wayne Zahn and want to recognize the importance of these funds to benefit our residents and our facility. Their generous support can be seen not only here at St. Francis but in several organizations throughout the Tiffin community. They have truly been a blessing to our campus and we are so thankful for their donation” said Jessica Short, Executive Director at St. Francis Senior Ministries.
St. Francis Assisted Living and Friedman Village Assisted Living Ohio Department of Health Survey Results
On March 24, 2016 and March 29, 2016 the Ohio Department of Health came to do their inspection of Friedman Village at St. Francis Assisted Living and St. Francis Assisted Living. According to the website, www.ltcohio.org:
“The Ohio Department of Health’s Bureau of Healthcare Standards and Quality is responsible for enforcement of the Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code rules and laws in licensed residential care facilities in Ohio. Each of the residential care facilities in Ohio receives at least one unannounced survey (inspection) during a 9 to 15 month survey cycle. During these surveys, all aspects of care and services are evaluated based on state laws and rules. Each residential care facility is required to display a copy of the most recent survey. The Division also investigates complaints related to resident’s rights, quality of care, quality of life, staffing, abuse, dietary, and environmental concerns.”
The Ohio Department of Health found Friedman Village at St. Francis Assisted Living and St. Francis Assisted Living deficiency free (no citations)! According to St. Francis Senior Ministries Executive Director Jessica Short, “It takes a significant effort on the part of all our staff to deliver quality care. It is an accomplishment we are very proud of.”

St. Francis Receives Grant for New Bus
St. Francis Home is excited about the arrival of their new 15 passenger accessible bus. With the generous grant award of $20,000 from the Allen Eiry Fund, managed by the Columbus Foundation, St. Francis Home was able to order this bus back in October. The St. Francis Senior Ministries Memorial Foundation, supported thru many private donors, assisted with over $20,000 of the remaining costs associated with the purchase.
Reineke Family Dealership coordinated this purchase and the installation of the accessibility features through a vendor in Michigan. This bus replaced an older bus that was in need of several repairs. Residents can continue to participate in community events in and around the Tiffin area.
Thanks to all the donors – private and foundations – that were able to contribute to resolve this need at St. Francis Home! For more information on opportunities to partner with St. Francis Community, please visit the website at www.sfctiffin.org.

St. Francis Home Receives Check
St. Francis Community and St. Francis Senior Ministries’ staff and residents graciously accepted an award of $1000 for medical equipment needed at St. Francis Home. Teri Lease and Steve Fruth of the North Central Electric People Fund presented the check to Elizabeth Fox, Director of Nursing at St. Francis Home.
The People Fund of North Central Electric Cooperative raises funds each month through “Operation RoundUp” by rounding up their electric bills from voluntary member…s to the next whole dollar. “It is a great partnership with matching missions of two local organizations together, both helping those in need,” says Ann Keefe, Grants Writer for St. Francis Community. “It is really amazing how a few cents from each member participating, can add up to significant community contributions,” said Lease. Over 500 such community donations have been made throughout the years to various organizations across the region.
